DITO Telecommunity is back to bring smiles at this year’s MassKara Festival, one of the Philippines’ most anticipated cultural events. Now celebrating its Sapphire Anniversary in its 45th year, this month-long grand celebration of Bacolod’s rich culture and joyful spirit has earned the city the nickname “City of Smiles.” Known for its Carnival-esque street parades, featuring performers in colorful, ornamented masks and tribal wear, the festival is a vibrant reminder of Bacolod’s inauguration as a city.

Dedicated to connecting Filipinos and promoting local talent and festivities, DITO ensures to create meaningful connections in communities and strengthen Filipino culture through its advanced technology. In collaboration with the City Government of Bacolod, this year’s MassKara Festival is set to be even more thrilling with DITO’s vibrant lineup of activities.

The celebration kicked off with the MassKara Festival Grand Countdown Salubong last October 11, 2024. Get ready for the next few days as DITO brings special awards and cash prizes for various events. First, the Coronation Night for Miss Bacolod MassKara 2024 will take place on October 19, showcasing the city’s finest in beauty and talent. The Miss DITO Telecommunity 2024 special award will be given to the candidate who embodies confidence and passion for community-building. 

The TODO Na DITO sa MassKara ElekTROIKA Divas is a celebration of women in music, along with the TODO Na DITO sa MassKara Electric Float Parade on October 26. Bacolod’s Best Float of 2024 will be awarded to the parade’s most stunning display. This year's festival will wrap up with the exciting TODO Na DITO MassKara Street Dance & Arena Competition on October 27. The Unity Dance Segment will feature talented groups that will dance to the "TODO NA DITO" tune highlighting their creativity and the community's vibrant energy.

Gen Z Places Higher Value on Recommendations from Family and Friends Over Celebrities, Study Finds



A study by leading PR firm, Comm&Sense Inc., reveals that while celebrities might dazzle with their fame, it’s the heartfelt advice from close acquaintances that truly influences Gen Z’s purchasing decisions.

The study is part of Comm&Sense’s generational research titled "Common Ground: Pinoy Voices in New Media," which surveyed 400 Filipino Gen Z individuals aged 16 to 26 nationwide, examining their considerations when purchasing products and services.


Participants cited authenticity, relatability, and genuine experiences as key factors influencing their trust in recommendations.

Dr. Fernando Paragas, a professor at the University of the Philippines Diliman’s College of Mass Communication and lead researcher of the study explained, “Unlike the aspirational allure of celebrity endorsements, Gen Z appears to prioritize real-life experiences and genuine connections, finding greater resonance in advice from those they know and trust intimately.”

This Comm&Sense study revealed a significant shift in the landscape of consumer influence, showcasing the enduring power of personal relationships in an era dominated by digital influencers and celebrity endorsements.

Comm&Sense Managing Director Charlotte F. Reyes noted that this shift in consumer behavior has profound implications for marketing strategies aimed at Gen Z.

“To connect with Gen Zs, brands must move beyond surface-level endorsements and focus on building authentic relationships. Gen Z seeks trust and relatability, favoring recommendations rooted in real experiences over carefully crafted public personas,” said Reyes.

As Gen Z continues to redefine the rules of consumer engagement, understanding their preference for authenticity and personal connections will be essential for brands looking to capture their attention and loyalty.
