Freelancing or working at home has a lot of perks and advantages. These include more time to spend with the family, no more daily commute, and traffic as well as more flexibility on what to wear, schedule and tasks.
As perfect as it may sound, working at home also has its disadvantages. This includes instability of work, lesser employee benefits, and perks (most of the time you have to shoulder it personally) and less social interaction.
For me, working at home meant limited time to go out and do errands. Since I am not "out of the house" most of the time just like office-based workers. I could not do errands or drop by my favorite shop or restaurant on my way home. I would have to plan it out and do everything in one go. I remember when I was still working in Makati, my friends and I would drop by our favorite coffee shop after work to chill out and enjoy my favorite iced coffee. This is actually one of the many things I miss from corporate work.
Since freelancers are known to be creative, I discovered a way to enjoy my favorite iced coffee at home. Maskape Coffee Brown and Creamy makes a delicious iced coffee for only Php 5.00. Yes, that cheap but it tastes like coffee ice cream.
Maskape can also make a good cold brew or smoothie. I was even thinking that perhaps I can even use it as an ingredient for Tiramisu or Mocha Cake. (Will find time to bake and let you know)
What makes Maskape Coffee special?
Maskape is made of robusta coffee beans which are low in acidity and is known to have more antioxidants. This helps reduce the risk of some health problems including diabetes and liver cirrhosis.

Maskape has other variants: White and Creamy, Strong and Rich, Original and Barako Gold. It is available in supermarkets nationwide for only Php 5.00 (SRP) and in all 7-eleven stores for only 10.00 for TwinPacks.

Working freelance I understand completely when you said working from home has less social interaction.
ReplyDeleteI however like to visit and work from coffee shops. It gives me the opportunity to work and meet other people. Or maybe that's just because we don't have Maskape in Australia?
I work from home most of the time. Even when I was doing business, the office was in the house. So, it is something I am used to. One thing I can say is this. A cafe may be so good that one is bound to keep returning. At the end of the day, it is the company of people that make it worthwhile.
ReplyDeleteI so understand the can't even go to the coffee shop. Ihihi. I resigned from work about two years ago to be a full-time mom. I thought life at home can be boring thus decided to blog. Only to find that being a stay-at-home mom and a homemaker can be a lot demanding than my corporate work. Anway, glad you were able to find your coffee in Maskape :)
ReplyDeleteI don't have actual "work" but with blogging, sometimes I still visit coffee shops cause that's where co-bloggers meet up to socialize :) But say if I'm craving for my favorite drinks I also do what you do and just make it at home as well :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a stay at home mom and sometimes a WAHM, and it's true that when you go out, you need to have a plan para hindi sayang ang oras sa labas. True din na mas matipid kapag nasa bahay lang. I seldom buy from coffee shops because I can make my own coffee at home. My mom actually loves Maskape and Kopiko. Good news naman sa coffee drinkers that you can get health benefits from Maskape.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen maskape Here in our place, some of my friends love to visit coffee shops though but it's not my thing, I also prefer working at home and enjoy quality time with family, I hope o could try maskape soon
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the maskape here in our place, I wish I could try it soon, my friends love to visit coffeshops because of Internet access was extremely good, but I prefer working at home
ReplyDeletehome based freelance writer here! and yes, you are so right about the disadvantages of working at home... the benefits in particular is the downside of online jobs... what I did though is to contribute voluntarily for my SS, PagiBig and Philhealth because those are really necessary..
ReplyDeleteI am also a coffee person.. seriously.. i drink 4 or 5 cups everyday especially if I want to keep myself awake haha
Maybe I will try Maskape soon... love the pun.. Mas Kape.. so I assume it offers a stronger aroma compare to other instant coffee
If you experience that, I also experience that even if I work outside. You know what? Because I am a mom. And moms immediately go home after the work was done. I also kind of miss that. But being with my baby as fast as I can makes me want to just stay at home and don't go out anymore.
ReplyDeleteBtw, that's a new coffee you got there. I am not yet familiar with that. I hope it's already available at our local suking tindahan. :)
I can sort of relate to this. I find that ever since I started freelancing I spend a lot of time cooped up in the house. Anyway, I've seen this brand of coffee around but I've never actually tried it. Sounds delish though!! And at 5 bucks it's a steal!
ReplyDeleteLike you, I am also a freelancer. I don't work in the 9-to-5 setting anymore. However, it seems that being a freelancer made me spend more time in coffee shops! Haha! My clients would set meetings with me in coffee shops most of the time. I'm not really a coffee person though, and now that I'm pregnant, I can't drink that much coffee. What is your job and why does it keep you from visiting coffee shops? I'm curious! Surely you still go to coffee shops with friends though, right? :)
ReplyDeleteI just shifted to becoming a WAHM, and it's true that we have less social interaction, most of the time sa bahay lang. But due to the bad traffic we have here in the Philippines, I'd prefer to just stay at home. Plus, I am not a fan of expensive coffee from coffee shops. Kopiko lang masaya na ako. But I will definitely try this one since available naman sa mga sari sari stores. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I can relate to this! So whenever I miss going to coffee shops, I just to one and converse with a friend or just work there. Yet, most of the time I'm quite lazy to go around Metro Manila. But, I've been avoiding coffee for quite some time now because of ulcer and hyperacidity. So my buddy is now, tea but not so much.
ReplyDeleteStill, freelancing is enjoyable! ✨
I am a home buddy and would love to try working at home. You're right about lesser social interactions although weighing on the perks, I guess I would still want to try this one out. I am a coffee person but I don't usually hang out on coffee shops, So I may not be able to miss this part out. :)
ReplyDeleteThere is indeed no place like home. I would love to try having a home-based work after I graduate! :)
ReplyDeleteI have been regular coffee shop goer even if I am not a coffee person. I would like to try Maskape some time, maybe it would make me like coffee? :P
Ever since I turned a freelancer, I too have a become a bit of a loner. No social interactions, nothing. Tea keeps me going.
ReplyDeleteI liked the idea of supporting local brands. This way. money remains in our lands and does not go to the war chests of the big multinationals.
I laos liked the way you handled this sponsored post, it looked a generic one to me.
I'm a coffee lover! I usually consume 3-4 cups a day, my 1st cup usually the one that keeps me going all throughout. Then 2nd and 3rd at working hours. My last cup usually gives me the calmness feeling, my reward for making things done! I heard much of this Maskape through Social Media but, unfortunately here in Davao City I never had a chance to try it. Perhaps, availability is limited here in our place.
ReplyDeleteI would love to try it one of this day and who knows it might be my next fave.
