We just got home from Hong Kong and spent 2 days in Disneyland to celebrate my mom's birthday. There is no doubt that it is the happiest place on earth. I was crying while watching Mickey and the Wondrous Book show (tears of joy!) However, visiting Hongkong Disneyland is also one of the most tiring experiences I had in my whole life. Seriously, my feet are so tired that I could barely walk once we're back at the hotel.
Anyway, for those who are planning to visit, let me share some tips on how you can make the most out of your Disneyland experience.
1. Visit the City Hall
Don't forget to drop by the City Hall. It is located in Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A., close to the Main Entrance to the park. They handle customer service concerns as well as provide assistance in dining reservations, currency exchange, and park information. There is also an ATM in case you need one.
For first time visitors, you can ask them for a First Time Visitor Badge. If it's your birthday, you can also get a special Birthday Badge from Disneyland.
2. Fastpass Service
Fastpass Service is a ticketing system that virtually “saves” your place in the queue for some of your favorite attractions. This allows you to enjoy the park and then come back to the attraction during the return time printed on your FASTPASS Ticket. This is absolutely free though not all attractions have it.
Currently, it is available for Hyperspace Mountain, The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh and Iron Man Experience.
3. Use Coupons for Discounted Meals
Don't forget to get a free copy of the Hong Kong 20th Anniversary Coupon Booklet to enjoy deals around the city. This is available at the Hong Kong International Airport Visitor Centre and in selected hotels and inns in the city. Use the Disneyland coupon and get 20% off from meals. These are accepted in all dining outlets at the park.
4. Prepare Your Rain Gear
It was raining during our 2-day visit but that did not stop us from enjoying the park. Though there are rain ponchos for sale (approximately HK$ 55), it would be cheaper and more practical to bring your own rain poncho which is cheaper if bought outside.
5. Shop at Professor Porter's Trading Posts
Most shops sell identical items but one should not miss the chance to shop at Professor Porter's where you can score great deals and sale items. Can you imagine getting discounts from 50-70% off when you buy 2 or 4 items?
I was able to get Mickey Mouse shoes for only HK$50 (regular price of HK$ 298) and shirts at 70% off. I got a couple of Star Wars shirts for Val at HK$60 each instead of the regular price of HK$ 198.
One should not miss taking the Disneyland Railroad to get a complete tour around the park. This is the first attraction you will see when entering the park making it really crowded in the morning. Thus, it is suggested that you take the ride in the afternoon or instead, board from the Fantasyland station rather at the Main Street.
7. Purchase Discounted Disneyland Tickets
Get your Disneyland tickets at a discounted rate from Klook. One day pass is available for only HK$ 540 (Original Price is HK$ 589) Plus, Klook coupons also allow you to proceed directly to the entrance and skip the long queue.
How about you? Do you have something to share about your Hongkong Disneyland experience? Feel free to comment below.

ReplyDeleteOoh, I would love to visit there someday! Would be cool to compare it to the ones here in the U.S.
ReplyDeleteI would love to visit any Disneyland, as I haven't ever been to one. Your tips all sound fantastic, and I shall remember them in case I ever get lucky enough to visit the Hong Kong one :)

My friends just came back from here and had nothing but great things to say!! Disney never disappoints, not even in Hong Kong!
ReplyDeleteWent to Disneyland Hong kong as well last May and it was one of those tours that truly made my boys happy. They were given allowances they could spend the way they want it. They rode rides and ate waffles and foreign food. Indeed, it's the happiest place in town! I hope I was able to join them but being pregnant and carrying a 21 month old son is just too difficult for me. I stayed watching their things and eating anyway.
ReplyDeleteThese are some great tips. I haven't been to HK Disney world yet but a couple of friends of mine who visited were raving about it. I do have plans and hope they materialize soon. The rain coat tip is one which I too give others.
ReplyDeleteOh these are great tips! We were there June of last years and it was freaking hot! We didn't get to ride the disney railroad and i missed shopping for some disney character shirts and the like! Of only i knew there's a cheaper store.. i will take note of these next time!
ReplyDeleteHaven't been in HK yet but those tips surely will help a traveler. If given the chance, I want to go there soon. I actually told hubby to make it a point that we travel overseas once or twice a year. Hopefully, HK will be in the list. Japan and Korea will go first
ReplyDeleteAwww, Disneyland! Well, we went there ages ago so I guess we both weren't blogging that much yet. How I wish you've posted this back then so we were able to maximize our trip. Even my mom felt the magic that Disneyland brings and honestly felt like a little girl once more when we went there. So just in case we'll be going there, I'll be saving your page to guide us!
ReplyDeleteAhh, the happiest place on Earth! I haven't been there but I will surely go one of these days. Thanks for the tips you mentioned. I would love to get the star wars shirt in a lesser price! So I'll make sure to visit the shop mentioned whe we visit. We're planning to travel internationally by december maybe we can add this on the list. :)
ReplyDeleteI have yet to visit this place. I want to bring my boys here but we'll wait a bot until Geordan is bigger so he can enjoy the rides as well. Hopefully, when they're bigger, they would be able to endure the lines for some of the rides. May I know if you chose to stay at the Disneyland Hotel? Or which hotel you chose to stay during your trip?
ReplyDeleteooh these are very interesting set of helpful tips..it's sad that I have never been to Disneyland yet but I will definitely keep these all in mind if ever I get there!
ReplyDeleteAwesome tips you have right there! Want to go back to HK. But, thinking over it due to budget and other things in mind. But, this will be very helpful
ReplyDeletejust in case.
I miss HongKong Disneyland. Now that my partner is working for a HongKong conglomerate and he'll be sent to HongKong from time to time, I'll definitely invite him to return there with me. I also love Disney theme parks. Anyway, I've been hearing about Klook from my fellow travel bloggers, I'll make sure to buy tickets from them :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to visit HongKong Disneyland one time. I had almost visited Disneyland in Orlando. But we hadn't enough time to everything and we just visited Universal Studios. This really helps to prepare for HongKong Disneyland! Can't wait to go!
ReplyDeleteI have never been to Disneyland but your tips are helpful. If and when I visit HongKong , I will remember these tips. I also hope to see Mickey Mouse there.
ReplyDeleteGreat tips and advice, especially about picking up booklets to save in advance pre-purchasing tickets. I didn't get a chance to visit HK disney when I was there, instead opting to go to a cheaper theme park, but had I see this the outcome might have been different.

ReplyDeleteI would perhaps be visiting Disneyland in Hong Kong before I land up in the one in US as it is in our plan for early next year for a short holiday. That is if things get to normal by then. I love walking and hence would love exploring although tiring with so much to do. Being a foodie the first thing that I would do is buy the discounted meal coupons.
